After Chris and Charlie demonstrated their remote Jeep Cherokee hack, Fiat-Chrysler recalled 1.4 million vehicles, showing just how widespread the flaws were.  This demonstrates the risks inherent in a software monoculture, and the potential scope of a mass remote attack.
